Avatar: The Way of Water Box Office Nears $1 Billion Mark in Global Ticket Sales


Avatar: The Way of Water’s box office haul is getting close to $1 billion (roughly Rs. 8,285 crore) threshold James Cameron’s much-delayed sequel has earned an impressive $955 million (roughly Rs. 7,909 crore) at the global box office, putting it in third place among the highest-grossing films of 2022, behind only Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which made $955.7 million (roughly Rs. 7,903 crore) overall during its dramatic run.

The split of Avatar 2 yields approximately $661.9 million (or Rs. 5,481 crore) from markets outside of the United States, with China performing best despite the rise in COVID-19 cases in the region. The new Avatar movie has made $293.2 million (or approximately Rs. 2,428 crore).

India is among the top five non-American markets for Avatar as of Tuesday: The Way of Water, which received $39.2 million (approximately Rs. 324 crore) to the total amount spent worldwide. As previously stated, China has collected $104.5 million (roughly Rs. 866 crore) in ticket sales, a significant boost considering the region’s infamous ban on several Hollywood films. Beyond that, France and Korea continue to compete, with the former expecting $60.5 million (approximately Rs. 501 crore), while the latter has obtained $55.4 million, or approximately Rs. 459 crore). India comes in last, followed by Germany, which contributes $41.5 million (roughly Rs. 344 crore).
